Menus, file formats and Print / PDF
What each menu contains, which files KoCAD opens and exports, and how to print or make a PDF (views, parts list, sheet, plan).

Menus
- File: New part, New (assembly, drawing from model, 2D drawing), Open…, Open project folder…, Recent files, Save, Save as…, Print / PDF, Save all, Export, File properties, Close document, Exit.
- Edit: Undo, Redo, Rebuild, Edit dimensions, Hide/Isolate/Show all.
- View: zoom, orientation, style, section view, large assembly mode, VR/AR, film, Panels, theme.
- Insert: sketch, features, sheet metal, weldments, assembly, drawing.
- Tools: Measure, mass, interference, cost, manufacturability, KOREOS submenu, Customize, 2D → 3D, Generate with AI, Appearance, AI texture, Options….
- Window: detach and switch between open documents. Help: Wiki / Guide, Report a problem, Support chat, Shortcuts, What's new, Check for updates, About.
Open (File → Open…, Ctrl+O)
KoCAD (.kcpart, .kcasm, .kcdrw), STEP, IGES, STL, OBJ, GLB/glTF, 3MF, BREP, SolidWorks (.sldprt/.sldasm/.slddrw — preview; 3D from the STEP with the same name), DXF, DWG, PDF and ZIP (extracted by KoCAD, Japanese names decoded).
Export (File → Export)
STEP AP214, IGES, STL, OBJ, binary glTF (.glb), 3-view DXF (third angle JIS), BREP, DWG (experimental) and flat DXF (laser).
Print / PDF (Ctrl+P or the Print button)
- Choose the content: the five views, the parts list, the sheet or the plan.
- Choose A3/A4 and orientation and generate the preview.
- Save the PDF or print. The list has a thumbnail of each part. Linked to a case and online: KOMORI logo and case QR; no case/offline: KoCAD logo.
Common mistakes
- GLB/OBJ/STL open as display meshes (no editable features, no interference check). To edit, open the STEP.
