Normally a delivery goes to the driver who owns the route (via the Route code). Sometimes you want one delivery or pickup to go to someone else without touching the whole route. That is what direct assignment is for.
The three modes
- Mode · What happens
- By route · The stop goes to the driver linked to the route entered.
- Specific driver · The stop leaves the route queue and is reserved for the chosen driver only.
- No route or driver · The stop stays outside routes until assigned again.
Step by step
- On the map, click the delivery's pin (or right-click → Edit delivery).
- In the quick editor or Full edit, go to the Assignment section (Driver for this delivery/pickup).
- Choose Specific driver and select the active driver.
- Save. The delivery card shows a direct assignment badge.
- To go back to normal, choose By route.
What if the driver does not exist yet?
- On the panel's Drivers tab, click + Register.
- Enter name, code and default route and tick Assign this delivery/pickup to the new driver.
- Save. “Driver registered and delivery/pickup assigned.” appears.
Common mistakes
- “Choose an active driver for this delivery/pickup.” The driver is inactive or not selected.
- “Choose a valid assignment rule.”
When to use it
- An urgent pickup that should go to the nearest driver.
- A customer who agreed on service by a specific driver.
- A delivery that must wait (No route or driver) until the customer confirms the time.
After the change, check the Driver record to see the delivery in their agenda.
